Thanks to its new venue for 2014, more visitors than ever before will be able to benefit from camexpo’s popular Keynote content when the show returns for its 12th edition on 4-5 October at Olympia London.

Prompted by 2013’s robust seminar turnout, which saw many sessions generously oversubscribed,Keynote Theatre 1 (sponsored by Revital) now boasts almost double the capacity of previous years.  Big name speakers, including Patrick Holford, Leon Chaitow, Yvonne Bishop-Weston, Antony Haynes, Professor Ben Pfeifer, and Dr Marilyn Glenville, will now be able to address nearly 500 attendees at a time.

Dr Marilyn Glenville at camexpo

“It’s a privilege to be invited back again this year to take part in camexpo’s Keynote sessions,” says top women's health nutritionist Dr Marilyn Glenville, the former President of the Food and Health Forum at the Royal Society of Medicine.  “For two full days everything is under one roof – offering practitioners and students access to top quality seminars, workshops, and a wealth of supplement and natural product companies.”

A keen support and regular speaker at camexpo for years – Dr Glenville is known for attracting standing-room-only crowds.  Indeed, such is her popularity with camexpo audiences that she is the only speaker to be hosting two Keynotes (‘Osteoporosis – how to prevent, treat and reverse It’ and ‘Using nutrition to boost fertility and prevent miscarriage’) over the weekend show.

Using nutrition to boost fertility and prevent miscarriage

“Over the past twenty years, fertility problems have increased dramatically,” Dr Glenville says, speaking ahead of her Keynote on the subject.  “At least 25% of couples planning a baby will have trouble conceiving, and more and more couples are turning to IVF to help them have a family.”

“Fertility is multi-factorial but there is now sufficient evidence to support the view that nutrition has a valuable part to play in improving fertility for both men and women,” she explains.

“It is not enough to just recommend that couples to eat a ‘well balanced diet’, as it is clear from the research that most people are not getting adequate nutrient levels from their food alone.  It is also not enough to supplement with only individual nutrients, such as folic acid, as the synergistic effect of nutrients needs to be considered.

“Having a nutritional assessment alongside routine fertility investigations is vital and may result in natural conception, especially where unexplained infertility, which makes up 30% of all cases, is implicated.  This would save on drug treatment and would also reduce the need for IVF.   It also means that if the nutritional approach increases the IVF success rate then it will lessen the number of IVF attempts a couple may need,” she says.

Dr Glenville will be using her session (at 2pm on Sunday 5 October) to show how certain nutrients can improve male and female fertility either for natural conception or IVF, and how nutrition can help with immunological problems that may be affecting fertility and miscarriage.  The impact of lifestyle, occupational, and environmental factors will also be discussed.

Tailored specifically to equip complementary practitioners, therapists and healthcare professionals with the latest research and techniques, the full camexpo Keynote seminar programme – including sessions by Jayney Goddard, president of The Complementary Medical Association, CAM Coach Mark Shields, Ayurvedic specialist Dr Deepa Apte, Dr Robert Verkerk, executive & scientific director of campaign group the Alliance for Natural Health International – is available to view online at www.camexpo.co.uk/seminars.
