Daisies, sunshine and community spirit at launch event

Driving Miss Daisy, the successful companion driving service from New Zealand, has launched its latest franchise in Farnham, Surrey.

As a safe, reliable and caring new community companion service, Driving Miss Daisy makes life easier for those who find getting out and about difficult, feel slightly isolated or simply need support. The service can be used for medical appointments, the hairdresser, meeting friends for coffee or taking a loved pet to the vet. It’s also perfect for shopping trips, outings and parents requiring help taking children to and from after-school activities. Special needs are catered for including assistance with a walker or wheelchair.

Tori Lumb and Jocelyn Close, franchise owners of Driving Miss Daisy Farnham, are also the Regional Developers for Surrey. Tori said of the launch: "We have had a wonderful reception today with support and encouragement from our lovely, valued clients, the Mayor of Farnham, local town and Waverley Councillors, Daisy colleagues from surrounding counties and people interested in the service. Jocelyn and I would like to extend our heart-felt thanks to everyone who came along and helped make the event such a success."

Jocelyn commented on the Driving Miss Daisy service: "This service is for anyone who wishes to remain independent, go out and maintain the freedom of everyday living. Since launching the franchise, we have been amazed at the demand for Driving Miss Daisy and the marvellous feedback we get each and every time. Our distinctive Daisy cars are now a familiar sight in Farnham and Tori and I are in talks with other caring, motivated people looking to own their own franchise business, so they will soon be a familiar sight throughout Surrey!"

The launch at The Tannery, The Maltings was also attended by Jack and Melanie Harper, founders and owners of the NZ and UK Driving Miss Daisy businesses. Melanie commented: "We are very proud and pleased that our community companion service is proving to be as popular here in the UK as it is in NZ where we have franchises across the country. Driving Miss Daisy makes a real difference to people's lives and we wish Tori and Jocelyn every success."
