Lassila & Tikanoja digitizing its services with Efecte Identity Management
Lassila & Tikanoja has chosen Efecte Identity Management as its identity and access management (IAM) solution. Launching the system is part of L&T's overhaul to digitize all its services.
"Cloud services, SaaS solutions, mobile devices, BYOD etc. create new requirements for information management. We no longer just talk about AD and the internal network; the environment that must be managed is much more complex. Material distributed through notice boards is quickly out of date, and the update procedure is cumbersome. In order that services and notices can be submitted digitally, everyone must have their own digital identity. With a personnel of 8,000, it is critical that we find a solution that enables user management to be as automated as possible," says Lassila & Tikanoja's CIO Harri Karjalainen.
The launch of the Efecte Identity Management solution has been carried out by Efecte's partner Nixu Corporation. The objective with the first stage of the IAM system project is to automate the creation and maintenance of employees' AD identifiers and groups and the resetting of passwords.
"We made a comprehensive preliminary study with Nixu to find a suitable product. Efecte Identity Management met our needs best, while being a sufficiently light and financially viable solution. Password resetting was one of the key features we insisted upon. We do not want users to load the helpdesk when they forget their password, because that would result in excessive costs," explains Karjalainen and continues: "We also saw that the product will respond to our future needs, such as provision of other applications and management of external users.”
"The big picture is that we are creating a circular economy, that is, reducing waste and increasing recycling. Digitizing services is an environmentally friendly solution. Identity management is a basic requirement for digitizing, because it enables the creation of a digital identity for all employees. We are developing services with the focus on the employees – it is a benefit that we can offer electronic services who prefer to use them," concludes Mr Karjalainen.
