Elekta wins public tender to deliver cancer care solutions to China

Health Department to expand its capacity to treat cancer with 15 linear accelerators from Elekta

STOCKHOLM, January 2 – To help manage the growing incidence of cancer, China’s Health Department of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has ordered a comprehensive range of clinical solutions from Elekta. Fourteen hospitals around the country will receive in total 15 linear accelerators (linacs).

The deal includes Elekta Axesse™ linacs with Agility™ multileaf collimators; Elekta Synergy® linacs and Precise Treatment Systems™ including treatment planning systems. Elekta’s award-winning MOSAIQ® Radiation Oncology Information System is also included in the agreement.

Gilbert Wai, Executive Vice President, Region Asia Pacific says: “As the third major deal in just over a year, this demonstrates the PLA’s confidence in Elekta as a company and our state-of-the art solutions. And as a Chinese citizen, I welcome this investment in the country’s health care and am proud that the best solutions have been chosen.”

The total value of the contract amounts to approximately USD 28 million, and the order will be booked during Elekta’s second half of fiscal year 2013/14.

Elekta has been present in China since 1982 and is the industry leader in the Chinese market. China is the company’s second largest market.
