Eniro has lost a legal dispute against Fonecta OY regarding the right to use the domain name eniro.fi. In short, the arbitral tribunal awarded Fonecta, who in 2010 acquired Eniro’s digital search operations in Finland, the right to redirect traffic to its own website from eniro.fi. The arbitral tribunal did also order Eniro to pay Fonecta’s legal costs relating to the dispute as well as the costs for the arbitral tribunal. After deduction of previously paid costs, Eniro shall pay approximately MEUR 1.2.

In conjunction with the sale, Eniro assigned a right for Fonecta to use certain trademarks and the domain name eniro.fi. In the spring of 2015, Eniro withdraw Fonecta’s right to use the domain name eniro.fi. Thereafter, Fonecta called for arbitral proceedings regarding the right to use the domain name. Oral hearings began in May earlier this year and the tribunal’s judgement was communicated to the parties on 31 July 2017.
