Ericsson enables "Instant Office Networks" with Voice Hub-Router Congo Family provides simple and inexpensive ISDN Customer Premise Equipment for growing SOHO market Ericsson today announced at Networks Telecom 99 in Birmingham, England, the Congo Voice Hub-Router, a new voice and data router developed to provide small- and home-office (SOHO) business users with a simple, cost-effective local and wide area connectivity solution from a single platform. Ericsson's Voice Hub-Router makes it fast and easy for users to install an "instant office network" that connects up to four computers via an Ethernet. It also integrates voice, data, modem, and fax traffic over a single, low-cost ISDN Basic Rate Interface (BRI) connection for fast, reliable connections to the Internet and to regional or corporate locations. The Congo can be installed and fully configured in minutes. Standard features such as Dial-on-Demand and Dial-on-Congestion provide a unique cost- savings advantage by automatically managing connection time to provide maximum bandwidth and availability at minimum expense. "End users can utilize Congo as a total small office network and Internet access solution, while service providers can offer Congo as the Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) complement to managed data and voice services," said Peter Curtin, vice president of Access product management for Ericsson Datacom Networks and IP Services business unit. "Ericsson is committed to delivering a complete selection of products that enable service providers to broaden their markets and increase their revenue stream by offering a full range of telecommunication services, including offerings for the continually expanding SOHO market."
