Ericsson joins CDMA Development Group at Fourth Annual World Congress Ericsson announces its membership in the CDMA Development Group (CDG) at the organization's Fourth Annual CDMA World Congress in Hong Kong, June 14-18, 1999. This membership signifies Ericsson's commitment to support the development and deployment of cdmaOne technology worldwide. In addition, Ericsson will participate in standardization and development efforts to ensure a smooth evolutionary path to third generation services with cdma2000. "We are excited to be an active member of the CDMA Development Group and believe that our expertise will prove to be beneficial to the organization," said Ake Persson, head of Ericsson's CDMA Systems business unit. The CDG works to support the growth of CDMA and the evolution of the technology to provide third generation services, in particular wireless Internet access. With the addition of CDMA technology to its wireless portfolio, Ericsson now offers service providers worldwide wireless networks based on all major technologies, for both second and third generation networks. cdmaOne is one of the fastest growing wireless technologies in the world, currently serving approximately 33 million subscribers.
