Ericsson selected by Elisa to host content services
Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) has won two deals with Finnish operator Elisa. The first agreement will see Ericsson providing a hosting solution for music and content downloads, while the second will see Elisa utilizing Ericsson's hosting solution for mobile TV.
Ericsson's hosted entertainment and application tools (HEAT) will enable Elisa to offer subscribers mobile content such as full-length tracks, ringtones, games, pictures, and video clips. This is the result of the excellent cooperation between Ericsson and companies such as EMI, Pocket Group, Warner Music, and Sony BMG.
The hosted Mobile TV solution enables Elisa to offer TV services, featuring sports, entertainment, and news video clips on demand, as well as seven live local and international channels.
Mikko Mattinen, Head of Elisa Content Services, says: "Our goal is to produce easy-to-use content services for our customers. In addition they take responsibility for the development, digital rights management, integration, hosting, content aggregation, and content management, leaving us to focus on our customers. We are confident that this gives us a competitive advantage."
Janne Laitala, Country Manager, Ericsson Finland, says: "We feel confident these easy-to-use services help Elisa to provide a first-class consumer experience and to attract subscribers. Hosting makes it easier for operators such as Elisa to launch content services for their consumers, bringing the services to market quickly while controlling cost."
