Ericsson wins USD 300 million order in Yugoslavia

Ericsson wins USD 300 million order in Yugoslavia Ericsson and the leading Yugoslavian operator Mobtel will sign a contract for a major expansion and upgrade of Mobtel's GSM network in Yugoslavia. This GSM 900/1800 contract is of the value USD 300 million. Ericsson will supply equipment enabling Mobtel's network to more than double the capacity of subscribers. The contract includes expansion of radio and switching infrastructure, GPRS, billing gateways, and the introduction of WAP services using Ericsson's WISE time to WAP solution etc. Deliveries will start immediately and will be completed within 18 months. "With this contract Mobtel can offer new services to the customer and prepare for the major subscriber growth we expect in Yugoslavia and also start the implementation of mobile Internet services on the market," said General Director, Sreten Karic, Mobtel.
