The Garden Route’s top leisure and lifestyle destination, Fancourt has introduced a scenic Mountain Bike Trail - yet another invigorating outdoor leisure activity to enjoy.

Fancourt, the Garden Route’s top leisure and lifestyle destination, has introduced a scenic Mountain Bike Trail to offer its guests yet another invigorating outdoor leisure pursuit to enjoy.  The decision to map out a Mountain Bike Trail through the property is in response to keen demand by guests who are cycling enthusiasts. Designed with safety in mind, the trail follows a central route through the property, and offers individuals and especially families, a fun way to explore the spectacular estate, while indulging in some healthy physical exercise together.

The Mountain Bike Trail is set for completion this month, to coincide with the opening of the much anticipated, upgraded Sports & Leisure Centre. 20 Mountain Bikes will be available for hire at the Sports & Leisure Centre, which will be open from 06:00 to 21:00 each day, and allowing cyclists to reserve their bike the evening before.

A leisurely 35 minute cycle will take guests along a scenic 10 kilometre route through the resort, with the starting point in front of the Fancourt Clubhouse (Golf Starter’s Hut), coinciding with the starting point for the existing Leisure Trails.  The route then winds down to Bramble Hill and then over a scenic path across part of The Links golf course. Here it follows a bush trail for some 800 metres of rougher terrain, heading back to Bramble Hill and ending off again at the Fancourt Clubhouse.

Says Sales and Marketing Director of Fancourt, Carl Reinders: ‘Vitality, relaxation and wellness is integral to the Fancourt guest experience, and the new Mountain Bike Trail will provide a fun and sporty way for guests to get their hearts racing while working off some calories.  Many of our guests are business people seeking some much-needed ‘R&R’ (rest and relaxation) and we place great score on including every possible activity that can help them unwind, or enhance their stay. This is not only a wonderful way for families to enjoy exploring Fancourt together, but also a great way to keep ‘tweens and teens’ entertained in a safe environment while their parents indulge in a little quality time together.’

A stay at Fancourt is defined by enjoyable outdoor activities, not least of which a round of golf at one of three Gary Player designed golf courses. Other choices include horse riding, picnics, walks and hikes that can be arranged on request and within 613 hectares of lush countryside, where splendid gardens and rolling lawns compete with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.  Among the range of popular outdoor pursuits are the three picturesque and well signposted Leisure Trails too.  These wind through the property, and are popular among guests seeking a little gentle exercise, or an excursion that may include a picnic lunch on the way, or simply to burn off some energy after indulging in a gourmet meal at one of Fancourt’s three superb restaurants.

The new Sports & Leisure Centre will offer guests a one-stop-shop for the whole family to indulge in relaxing and invigorating pastimes, with amenities such as a state-of-the-art gymnasium, indoor and outdoor swimming pool with a poolside café, a cinema, and a ‘Kidz Club’ area, as well as a ‘Chillout’ zone for the whole family. Tennis and volleyball courts are available too, while the Fancourt Spa provides a tranquil haven with facilities that include a heated Roman bath and Jacuzzi.

Fancourt is home to two luxury hotels and three restaurants and is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World. While it is a firm favourite among top golfers for its three award-winning Gary Player-designed golf courses, (Montagu, Outeniqua and The Links), it is also a popular holiday destination for groups of friends and families in search of a quality vacation jam-packed with excitement and activity. No doubt that the new Mountain Bike Trail will add an exhilarating dimension to the mix of leisure pursuits here.
