Etteplan expands its operations in China, opening a new office
Etteplan Oyj will further expand its operations in China by opening a sixth office in China. Opening the office in Qingdao, a city in the Shandong province on the east coast of China, is related to the deal which Etteplan has done with major, state-owned Chinese company. Based on the agreement the Chinese company is buying technical documentation services from Etteplan.
Etteplan provides industrial equipment and machinery engineering services, embedded systems and IoT solutions (Internet of Things), and technical documentation solutions. Currently, the company has offices in five different cities in China: Beijing, Shanghai, Kunshan, Suzhou and Xi’an, their staff totaling more than 300 people.
Under the Chinese government’s latest five-year plan, one of the key goals for Chinese companies is deeper participation in the global market. Over the last few years, labor costs have increased substantially in China. At the same time, Chinese companies are changing their mode of operations and have started to procure expert services from external sources. This means that the service market has started to open up, and the demand for automation and outsourcing and service models that buffer the cyclic nature of production has increased. There is huge potential in the market, providing substantial opportunities for businesses.
“Etteplan’s service offering is well-timed with the opening up of the Chinese service market. What is more, our portfolio supports Chinese companies’ global aspirations. In China, companies are starting to focus more and more on their core business, which means that they are increasingly buying the expert services they need. There is huge potential in the market, providing substantial opportunities for an engineering services company such as Etteplan. Etteplan has been operating in China since 2004, and we intend to continue investing in this market well into the future,” Juha Näkki, President and CEO of Etteplan Oyj, says.
