-  The outsourcing agreement concerns technical engineering services for the Tornio mill and Kemi mine

Etteplan and Outokumpu have agreed on the outsourcing of the technical engineering and documentation services for Outokumpu’s mill in Tornio to Etteplan. In addition to the outsourcing, Outokumpu’s Tornio mill and Kemi mine will focus their technical engineering services, technical documentation and information management service purchases with Etteplan. The outsourcing agreement will enter into force on 1 November 2016 and 22 of the Tornio mill’s employees will transfer to Etteplan as existing employees.

Etteplan’s service solution for Outokumpu is based on predefined processes and efficient operating models. Etteplan will take overall responsibility for producing and developing technical engineering services for the customer. The productivity of the service model is regularly measured using a set of indicators agreed on together with the customer.

-        In a changing business environment, Etteplan’s prepackaged service model offers us clear added value and the opportunity to focus on our core business, while at the same time gaining access to the markets’ best expertise. Our decision was also impacted by the fact that our transferring employees will gain a good new employer and excellent opportunities to develop their professional know-how in the field of engineering,” says Erkki Niska, Outokumpu’s VP Tornio Mill Services.

The outsourcing agreement signed with Outokumpu is of strategic importance to Etteplan and it creates, together with its acquisition of Suomen Unit Oy at the beginning of the year, an excellent foundation to serve industrial companies and develop business operations in northern Finland.

-        We are extremely happy about our new agreement with Outokumpu and delighted to welcome 22 new experts to our team. The agreement shows that our outsourcing solutions are effective and it undoubtedly strengthens our market position in northern Finland. Thanks to the agreement we will have around 130 experts under our employ in northern Finland and we will be recruiting more design engineers and technical documentation experts,” says Riku Riikonen, Senior Vice President of Engineering Services at Etteplan.
