New Europolitan service translates text into speech Listen to your e-mails Thanks to a new function in the EuroVoice Pro voice mailbox, Europolitan's customers can now listen to their e-mails instead of reading them. The e- mails are translated into speech and the customers can use any telephone in any location to retrieve their e-mail messages just like regular voice messages. The new function enables customers to listen to their e-mail messages rather than reading them. This means that they can access their e-mail messages from any telephone in any location. The only thing that is required is a mobile telephone or a regular touch-tone telephone, and EuroVoice Pro, Europolitan's Unified Messaging service. Customers call their voice mailboxes in the regular fashion (888), and then choose to listen to the e-mail messages. The system automatically translates text into speech, and can cope with recognising and reading e-mails in both English and Swedish. "This new function proves yet again that we are at the cutting edge of technical developments in the mobile telecoms market. And we have also made it simpler and more flexible for users to handle e-mails," says Mikael Kluge, head of the Mobile Internet business area at Europolitan. "The more the customers use their mobile telephones, the more messages they receive to the phone. These Unified Messaging functions gather all messages in one place, regardless of format - faxes, e-mails or voice messages - and they are vitally important to the customer since they radically simplify the handling of all messages. Text to speech will be a new option when accessing e-mail messages via Europolitan's EuroVoice Pro service. It has previously been possible to access messages via the Internet as well at the http://hantera.europolitan.se web site or with the help of a regular e- mail program. Text to speech does not cost extra since it is part of the EuroVoice Pro service. The function is automatically available to all EuroVoice Pro customers.
