Fazer, a leading oat expert and innovator, is on a mission to conquer the Nordics with a range of new oat-based products. The Fazer Yosa assortment includes a delicious variety of oat snacks and savory products for everyday use. The products are made from Nordic oats, which are considered the best in the world. Fazer sees great growth potential in oats, and has made substantial investments to drive the global development of oat-based products.

Yosa has a strong history and heritage, being the first oat product in the market in Finland and a pioneer in the oat product category for over 20 years. Fazer, being an oat expert, continues to develop Yosa products as a part of its substantial investments in oats and plant-based products. Now Fazer Yosa is conquering the Nordics, and the products will be available in Denmark, Norway and Sweden.

“We see globally a growing interest towards oat-based products and are ready to drive it forward with the innovative, top-quality Fazer Yosa assortment. Although the market is getting more saturated, we believe that there is an increasing demand for the Fazer Yosa products, which are both superior in taste and innovation. Consumers value tasty products that support holistic well-being, and demand responsible production from companies,” says Heli Anttila, Vice President, Supply Chain & Operations, Fazer Lifestyle Foods.

Fazer, the experienced R&D company, now owns the full Fazer Yosa production chain from the farming partners to end-consumers. Fazer Mills has world-class milling experience since 1971. Fazer has invested in an oat mill in Lahti, Finland in 2016–2017 and doubled the capacity of its oat production to 40,000 tons per year.

Nordic oats: The best in the world

Nordic oats are known to be of highest quality due to unique climate and growing conditions that can’t be replicated anywhere else. The growing season in the Nordics above the 60th hemisphere is very short but intense. Oats are planted during May and harvested during August and September. The vast amount of light, the midnight sun, makes Nordic growing conditions truly exceptional. During the winter, the soil is frozen and that is one of the reasons why the Nordic soil is pure, and the nature is clean.

A plant-based diet is proven to have a positive impact on the future of our planet, as it helps reduce, for instance, greenhouse gas emissions and water used in production. In addition to supporting the development of the plant-based category, Fazer wants to actively develop sustainable farming. The Fazer Sustainable Grain Farming Principles are developed together with farmers to reduce chemical use in farming while maintaining good productivity. The principles consist of ten measures that aim to keep nutrients in the fields – where they can be used by crops – and out of water systems. The objective is to reduce eutrophication, protect biodiversity and minimize the use of chemicals.

Probiotics and the health benefits of oats

The Fazer Yosa assortment includes tasty oat-based items for multiple uses: Yosa Oat Drinks, Yosa Oat Snacks; Classics, Muesli on top, Greek Style, Sport, Yosa Overnight Oats, Yosa Oat Spreads, Yosa for Cooking and Yosa Oat Fraiche.

The Yosa oat snacks are fermented containing probiotics that are excellent for supporting health. Probiotics are the key differentiator from other oat-based products in the market. Oats also contain beta glucan, which has 4 EU-approved health claims. Eating oats contributes to sustaining a healthy heart and associates with lowering cholesterol. Oats are also a good source of vitamin E and omega-6, and provide energy in a natural form. Oats are a pure and sustainable source of good quality protein and healthy fibres.

At Fazer, taste always comes first. Fazer has over 127 years of experience in creating taste sensations. Fazer Yosa products have a great taste in addition to health benefits. For example, the Yosa Oat Drink Natural outperformed the market leader in consumer tests in Sweden.

Fazer Yosa offers holistic experience, completed with beautiful design

Fazer Yosa’s design completes the product experience in everyday use from AM to PM. The products do not only taste good, but they also look beautiful. The starting point for the design is the oat. The signature Y illustrates the oat growing from the ground, releasing the greatness of the oat. The design has been created by UK-based award-winning agency Pearlfisher.
