His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark to visit Israel
His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark visited Isarel to participate in the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the rescue of Jews in Denmark in October 1943. The Danish rescue 70 years ago brought more than 7000 Jews to safety in Sweden.
During the visit His Royal Highness the Crown Prince of Denmark, was received by the President of the State of Israel, Shimon Peres. As part of the commemorations His Royal Highness the Crown Prince visited the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial, where he toured the site. It was "fantastic to be in Israel," Frederik said.
President Shimon Peres expressed profound thanks to the people of Denmark for their supreme effort to save the country's Jews during the Holocaust. This was a courageous deed by Denmark's citizens from all walks of life who did not hesitate to act when it was necessary, Peres said. "We shall never forget this historic act," he told the prince.
