Book Description: After building their own successful 1.5 Billion AUM financial advisory practice, as well as three other advisor focused businesses, Hanson McClain Advisors Co-Founders and Co-CEOs, Scott Hanson and Patrick McClain, set out to compile a list of “needs” and “musts” for the financial advisor that is looking to grow his/her practice. Hanson and McClain pared down their list until they found themselves with only one topic left: marketing. In their book, Investment Advisor Marketing, Hanson and McClain explore comprehensive, intensive, ongoing and focused marketing components for the financial advisor, the same concepts that got their businesses to where they are today.

SACRAMENTO, CA – October 15, 2013 – Scott Hanson and Patrick McClain, Co-Founders and Co-CEOs of Hanson McClain Advisors, describe in their new book, released today, the explicit details of a proven marketing plan for investment advisors. Hanson and McClain have built a successful RIA as well as three other businesses for financial advisors: Hanson McClain Retirement Network, Pathway Strategic Advisors, and Liberty Reverse Mortgage (sold to Genworth in 2007). Investment Advisor Marketing © 2013, Irish Canon Press, delves into four key marketing categories that can boost an advisory firm’s growth trajectory exponentially: general advisor marketing, community involvement, niche marketing and analytics.

The book begins by explaining why having a marketing plan is crucial and then offers an example of such a plan, followed by step by step detail on how to approach local PR, advertising, creating a strong logo, writing a book,  and more.  It includes details as specific as how to execute effectively when hosting a charity golf tournament, to what the three tiers of community involvement are and how to determine readiness for them.  This chapter is followed by a blueprint to niche marketing and the book concludes by teaching advisors how to assess and measure the effectiveness of their marketing efforts.

“One of the traits of successful advisory firms is a well-thought-out marketing strategy. Unfortunately, most advisors have no marketing plan at all. Scott Hanson and Patrick McClain are both great marketers and have achieved success in large part due to their marketing. This book unveils many of the marketing tactics they have employed at Hanson McClain. A great read for any advisor wishing to grow his or her practice,” said Charles “Chip” Roame, Managing Partner of Tiburon Strategic Advisors.
