Sandvik Presents its Portfolio of High-Performance Products at Rio Oil & Gas

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – 24 October 2016: Sandvik, a developer and producer of advanced stainless steels, special alloys, titanium and other high-performance materials, will be exhibiting at the 18th edition of the Rio Oil & Gas Expo and Conference, the largest oil and gas event in Latin America, held from 24 to 27 October in Rio de Janeiro.

At the Sandvik booth, the Swedish company will present its wide range of corrosion-resistant products including umbilical tubing, OCTG tubing, downhole control lines, hydraulic lines for drilling risers, tubing for sand screens, subsea piping material, welding products and slicklines. The booth will also display the complex components of powder metallurgy hot isostatic pressing (HIP) for subsea equipment.

According to Nigel Haworth, Sandvik’s Global Business Unit Head of Oil and Gas, Brazil continues to be an important market for the company, where it has a regional office as well as a facility that was opened around a year ago, to further enhance its products in the oil and gas market.

The facility, situated in Rio de Janeiro, can encapsulate flatpacks, perform flushing and filling of tubes, hydrostatic testing, re-spool lines to cut-to-length, color code tubes, and other services. The facility was set up with the aim to expand Sandvik’s presence in the region, and to be situated where its main customers have their bases.

Since then, Sandvik has supplied around 420 km of flatpacks, including more than 1,310 km of tubes and TEC to pre-salt projects in Brazil. The Libra oil field in the Santos Basin is the most promising oil field in Brazil, and Sandvik has supplied 100% of the control lines and chemical injection lines for the Long Duration Test (LDT) phase.

“Our expansion in Brazil is part of Sandvik's strategy to strengthen our position in the oil and gas market, bolster the growing control lines market and invest in high-level services for our customers. Since last year, we are already supplying control lines and chemical injection tubes with local content from the facility. We can also deliver coated umbilical tubing right from Brazil to meet 100% local Brazilian content, which is very important to tackle conditions specific to the local industry," says Leandro Finzetto, Regional Sales Manager, Oil & Gas, Americas, Sandvik.

The Sandvik booth at Rio Oil & Gas, Pavilion 4 (S20) at Riocentro, will be showcasing more information about the local facility as well as the products and services it provides.

"Sandvik’s commitment to the market is to provide customized solutions and meet the challenges of offshore production. We are very inspired about exhibiting our high-performance products, which represent a major leap in technology, such as the introduction of the first duplex stainless steels by Sandvik in pre-salt projects. We look forward to meeting everyone there," Leandro comments.
