FPC awarded smartphone design win by Top 3 Chinese supplier

Fingerprint Cards’ swipe sensor technology has won an additional smartphone design-win (DW) from a Top 3 smartphone manufacturer in China.

Fingerprint Cards (FPC) has earlier announced multiple mobile phone DWs in China and Japan and in an additional third Asian country. This new DW for a Qualcomm-based Android smartphone model from a Top 3 Chinese smartphone brand is scheduled to be launched in the second half of 2013. Due to the prevailing competitive situation, the mobile phone manufacturer wants to remain anonymous until further notice.

Johan Carlström, President and Chief Executive Officer of FPC, comments:
“China is the world’s largest market for smartphones, with a forecast sales volume of 430 million units in 2013. Chinese brands already account for a market share of more than 50%. We are delighted to announce this new smartphone design win from a Top 3 Chinese player in this strategically vital market. Due to our world-leading capacitive fingerprint technology, image quality and power consumption, FPC is now established as the leading alternative for fingerprint sensors in smartphones and tablets, winning 100% of all awarded DW for smartphones and tablets to date (outside Apple). We expect multiple additional design wins in China, in other parts of Asia as well as in North America in the coming months.”
