Finnair and airberlin expand codeshare cooperation
Finnair and airberlin are building on their current codeshare cooperation and
expanding in markets in Scandinavia and the Middle East. Finnair code is being
added to airberlin flights starting from Oslo, Gothenburg, Stockholm and
Copenhagen to Berlin, and from Copenhagen to Düsseldorf. Finnair is also adding
its code to airberlin-operated daily flights from Düsseldorf and Berlin to Abu
Dhabi, which enables passengers from Finland the possibility to book flights
from Helsinki to Abu Dhabi with airberlin via Finnair. Finnair’s own flights
from Helsinki to Tallinn, Turku, Tampere and Oulu now also have airberlin code,
for the first time offering airberlin passengers flights to Estonia and
domestic flights in Finland in combination with an airberlin or a Finnair
flight from Germany. The new codeshares are available from October 28, 2012 and
bookable now.
“We are very pleased with the growing cooperation with airberlin, our partner
in oneworld,” says Finnair Vice President Paavo Virkkunen, responsible for
alliance affairs. “This deepening of our codeshare arrangements helps us
enhance our route network in the Nordic countries and build feeder traffic
through our Helsinki hub.”
“Right from the beginning, the codeshare cooperation with our oneworld partner
Finnair is developing very well for both of us, especially the routes between
Germany and Helsinki,” says Paul Gregorowitsch, Chief Commercial Officer of
airberlin. “We are happy to offer our flight guests the first-time opportunity
to book a domestic flight in Finland as well as to Estonia and thus, to book
flights within an extended Nordic route network.”
Since 2010, Finnair and airberlin have been sharing code on flights between
Finland and Germany and to points onward in Italy and Austria. This year on
March 20, airberlin joined the oneworld alliance, of which Finnair is a member.
