MADISON, Wis. (Sep. 14, 2015) – Fiskars is proud to announce that its PowerGear2™ tools have been named a finalist for Fast Company’s 2015 Innovation by Design Awards, honoring the most innovative and disruptive design solutions for today’s business problems.

This year’s judging panel, which was comprised of the world’s best design minds, selected the finalists from among 1,500 international submissions across 14 categories – the most ever in the program’s four years. Finalists represent the top 10 percent of entries in each category.

Fiskars’ line of PowerGear2™ pruning tools, which includes loppers, hedge shears and pruners, uses an improved gear design to help make cutting branches easier. The tools are the result of an extensive study of the way a body interacts with a tool to help create the optimal user experience. With advancements in mechanics, blade design, durability, comfort and control, the PowerGear2™ tools provide more power than traditional pruning tools whether used to cut stems for a centrepiece, clean up plant growth, or trim back broken branches up to 2” in diameter.

“Fiskars’ passion for innovation and design has helped the company prosper for more than 365 years, and we are thrilled to be recognized with this distinction by a media leader that values those qualities as much as we do,” said Paul Tonnesen, President of Fiskars Americas. “The complete redesign of our PowerGear2™ pruning tools makes Fiskars’ best-performing cutting tools even better.”

All finalists are highlighted on the FastCoDesign.com website and in the October issue of the print magazine, which also hits newsstands today.
