Tool Care Tips

Annual maintenance is key for keeping tools in tip-top shape for many years of hard work. Any tool that has nuts and bolts, screws, blades or chains requires cleaning and sharpening. Cleaning

- Washing off dirt and sap build-up on the blades of tools helps prevent moisture build-up, which leads to rust.

Sharpening

- It’s recommended to sharpen blades at the end of each season. A flat file works well for the job when sharpening at the same angle as the blade. 

Lubricating

- Joints and blades can be sprayed and wiped down using machine oil or grease. This seals the blades during the winter and adds another protection against rust.

Storing

- Storing tools in a cool, dry place helps keep them in their best condition.
