Discover the Formula for Laboratory Flooring Success at AALAS

Flowcrete Americas will be showcasing its range of innovative and customizable flooring systems at the world’s largest gathering of scientific professionals concerned with the humane care and treatment of laboratory animals.

The 65th annual National Meeting of the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS), held from October 19-23 in San Antonio, TX, will provide an opportunity for over 4,000 professionals from the academic, government and private industry sectors to discuss the latest trends, technologies and techniques surrounding laboratory animal welfare.

This year’s event will focus on four key issues, including animal welfare, biomedical research and facility design with vaccine research being this year’s spotlight forum. Nearly 400 scientific posters will be featured at the meeting and 300 companies, covering a wide spectrum of expertise, will be exhibiting.

At booth 1437 of the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, attendees will be able to find out about the solutions that Flowcrete Americas can provide to laboratory and medical research facilities to help them ensure a safe and effective working environment.

Flowcrete Americas floors are ideal for scientific sites, as the resin formulation of its systems creates seamless, hard-wearing finishes that are easy to clean and which avoids unwanted contaminants building up within cracks or gaps in the floor.

This range includes exceptionally hard-wearing floors that can reliably withstand a laboratory’s on-site conditions - as they have been designed to work despite the worst chemical, impact, heat and work abuses that even intensive, large-scale production facilities can generate.

Visitors will be able to talk to Flowcrete Americas about its methyl methacrylate (MMA) system Flowfast, which not only has an incredibly fast rate of cure and an adaptable anti-slip profile but can also provide an effective surface in both wet and dry processing areas despite chemical attacks, wear and thermal shock.

The innovative antimicrobial flooring solution Flowfresh will also be on display at the resin flooring specialists’ stand. This cementitious urethane system has been designed to facilitate the highest possible standard of hygiene within laboratory environments.

Thanks to an exclusive global partnership with Polygiene®, Flowfresh is able to inhibit the growth of up to 99.9% of bacteria on the floor’s surface. This is achieved by locking a thermosetting amino compound into the floor’s resin matrix that continuously emits silver ions capable of eliminating gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

Dave McNeece, the Managing Director of Flowcrete Americas, said: “This is the fifth year that we have attended and we have always found the AALAS National Meeting to be a fantastic space in which to find out about the latest developments in what is a complex and ever evolving discipline.

“A key part of the event is focused on facility design, management and operations, all aspects of a laboratory which need to consider what the flooring system can withstand and what it can provide to the daily on-site activities.

“A Flowcrete Americas floor is a fantastic asset within areas that need to care for laboratory animals, as it helps them minimize the dangers from harmful pathogens while providing a reliable platform that will continue to support the building’s work load for an extended period of time.”
