FUNCOM HOSTS SUCCESSFUL FINAL BETA WEEKEND FOR THE SECRET WORLD
6/25/2012 4:57 AM EST
The fourth and final Beta Weekend for the company's
upcoming massively multiplayer online game, The Secret
World, was held the weekend of June 22. The company is
pleased to share that the event -- which was the
largest yet in terms of content, player numbers and
activity -- has been a significant success. During
this event, important gameplay systems such as large-
scale player vs. player combat were subject to
substantial stress tests, all of which were considered
very successful.
The positive results of this crucial final Beta
Weekend strengthen the company's optimistic outlook on
a smooth launch of The Secret World. The company now
considers that the server and client side technology
as well as important gameplay systems to be proven and
ready for launch on July 3 (with Early Access starting
June 29).
The company is also pleased to announce that The
Secret World now has a total of 1.5 million beta sign-
ups. This is significantly more registrations than the
company saw for its previous massively multiplayer
online game Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures. The
Secret World continues to be one of the most
anticipated massively multiplayer online games in
development, and the game continues to receive very
positive previews in the press (see some of the latest
press reports here:
