Note for the editors

The European Union Energy Days are organized annually by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Energy. After the first two EU Energy Days in Marrakech and Abu Dhabi, the focus now moves to Astana for the EXPO-2017 – this year's hotspot for showcasing clean energy solutions. The Astana EXPO-2017 Future Energy Forum was launched on June 29 and has established itself as a vital space for progressing the international energy revolution. Within the framework of the Forum four of 12 conferences within the series have already taken place. The Forum features an extensive format: plenary sessions, debates, keynotes, open tables and workshops make up the diverse and substantial programme. The participants of the previous conferences have discussed a wide range of issues: energy revolution and Kazakhstan’s potential in the transition to renewable energy sources, social and economic parameters of the new energy model, best energy practices for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as well as promoting energy efficiency and universal access to sustainable energy.
