A team of four golfers from the Garforth Golf Club have helped kick start the club’s Centenary year by winning the annual Leeds and District Golf Union Second Division team championship at Low Laithes Golf Club. The Garforth team of  Ian Doughty, Peter Muldoon, Kevan Vincent and John Dexter held off the challenge of local rivals, Headingley and Horsforth.

“This is a tough competition to win and it's a great achievement for Garforth.  We last won this trophy in 2006 so it's particularly special to win it in this our Centenary year," comments club Captain, Andy King.

The Club is now looking forward to a host of further big events taking place throughout the Centenary year.  A Centenary week of golf competitions for members will be held in late June culminating in a Centenary Gala.  An Edwardian Golf event will take place  in July followed by  a Family Fun Day  In August. In September the club will host the prestigious national MacKenzie Medallion Golf Tournament.
