Gatespace Announces Alliance with Digital Pockets Strategic relationship to accelerate service gateway deployments in the connected home market Seattle, Connections 2001 - May 10, 2001 - Gatespace, a provider of open standards based distributed service platforms for designing, developing, and delivering network-based services, announced today a strategic alliance with Digital Pockets, Inc., an industry-recognized provider of technology solutions for intelligent communities and residences. This alliance allows Gatespace and Digital Pockets to jointly develop service gateway applications for single-family home and multi-dwelling units in the United States. Homebuilders of 'intelligent communities' and service providers to those residences will benefit from Gatespace's Distributed Service Platform, delivering applications in conjunction with Digital Pockets' Application Integration System-a powerful standards-based service process and deployment engine. Through shared research and development and marketing activities, the two companies provide end-to-end solutions for the service gateway market that address the four major gaps in the deployment of intelligent systems for the residential market: application development, vendor- neutral O&M system integration, back-end support and installation. "Gatespace is committed to working with industry pioneers such as Digital Pockets in the development and implementation of service gateway applications that facilitate intelligent connectivity in the home," says Staffan Truvé, CEO of Gatespace. "By combining Gatespace's OSGi-based software platform with Digital Pockets' application integration technology, we can provide a powerful solution for the connected home market." "There has been a lot of talk in the market about applications and products that will revolutionize the way we live and work. The alliance between Gatespace and Digital Pockets provides the necessary channel for real estate owners and service providers to begin offering value-added services to their clients," explains Chase Galbraith, vice president of business development for Digital Pockets. Building on top of Gatespace's framework and application components, the companies can offer value-added services such as energy management, security monitoring, and home automation to homebuilders and service providers.
