Gatespace Strengthens Support for Implementing Distributed Services New release of Distributed Service Platform offers comprehensive infrastructure for implementing secure and reliable OSGi services Seattle, Connections 2001 - May 9, 2001 - Gatespace, a provider of open standards-based distributed service platforms for designing, developing, and delivering network-based services, announced today the new release of its Distributed Service Platform, GDSP 3.0, which will be commercially available on May 21, 2001. The new version makes it quicker and easier for service providers to implement an OSGi based (Open Services Gateway Initiative) complete and secure distributed service concept. To illustrate how Gatespace's platform simplifies the development and delivery of services, Gatespace is showcasing a Media Roaming Service at Connections 2001 in Seattle. The demonstration shows how a media stream (in this case video and music) can be transferred from a residential services gateway to an automotive services gateway and vice versa, allowing consumers to conveniently bring their services with them. The demo also shows other value adds such as support for flexible charging models, which facilitates set-up and control of new revenue streams and secure communication, which keeps the highest confidentiality of data throughout the system. "The new version of our platform provides complete system wide support for progressive service providers willing to invest in serving and managing attractive service packages that consumers are willing to pay for. The GDSP 3.0 adds and further enhances key functionality for the distributed service concept. It also includes a self-administrated service management function, enabling consumers to order services, which then are automatically deployed in the services gateway. The introduction of functionality for building key/certificate infrastructures and enhanced crypto features further supports service providers in implementing the required integrity and confidentiality of data throughout the system. The GDSP 3.0 also includes support for UPnP, 1Wire and PJava 1.2, and is designed to be compliant with the OSGi Specification 1.0.
