Gateway Analytical Receives Accreditation from American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors/Laboratory Accreditation Board (ASCLD/LAB)
PITTSBURGH, PA November 20, 2012 – Gateway Analytical announced today that the company received its accreditation from the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors/Laboratory Accreditation Board (ASCLD/LAB) for crime/forensic laboratories. Gateway Analytical joins 24 other private crime/forensic laboratories around the world to earn this accreditation. Focused in the discipline of trace evidence, Gateway Analytical is the only private lab currently certified to provide gunshot residue analysis.
ASCLD/LAB is the oldest and most widely known crime/forensic laboratory accrediting body in the world. Originally created in 1974, ASCLD/LAB has been accrediting crime laboratories since 1982, and currently certifies most of the federal, state, and local crime laboratories in the United States. Additionally, they have accredited 19 laboratories internationally.

To qualify, a laboratory must demonstrate that its management, personnel, quality system, operational and technical procedures, equipment, and physical facilities meet the established standards of the ISO/IEC 17025:2005, as well as the ASCLD/LAB-International Supplemental Requirements.
