The patents were issued to GIPS for the company’s unique predictive coding technique and for its innovative speech detection method.

These new patents have allowed for the design of the highest-quality speech codecs and some of the most innovative voice quality enhancement features available in the VoIP market today. One patent introduces a distinctive and groundbreaking method that uniquely combines predictive coding and lossless coding methodologies to reduce the codec bit rate, while maintaining the quality of the data. The other patent rewards an innovative technique based on statistical methods for detecting speech activity that enables high quality, low complexity solutions to only transmit data when the module has sensed that a user is speaking.
