Panelists representing DoD, DHS and GSA to share first hand experiences and best practices in Data Management for Government Executive Media Group’s Government Panel

WASHINGTON, D.C., April 17, 2014  – Government Executive Media Group, the government and defense division of Atlantic Media, will produce a federal panel discussion on Data Management Best Practices at The 2014 Informatica Government Summit on April 24. The panel will feature federal experts in data management and analysis from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Department of Defense (DoD), and the General Services Administration (GSA). Specifically, the panel will feature:

  • Ann Barron-DiCamillo, Director, US-CERT, Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
  • Mary Dixon, Director, Defense Manpower Data Center, Department of Defense (DoD)
  • Deborah Gallagher, Identity Assurance and Trusted Access Division Director, General Services Administration (GSA)

The panel brings together leadership of some of the most complex identity management and cybersecurity departments in the federal government. Participants will hear firsthand accounts of successes and failures in protecting data privacy and security. Panelists will discuss data management and governance best practices and common pitfalls for responsible data sharing between agencies as well as the latest innovations for improving the technology of data management. The panel will be moderated by Mark Micheli, Custom Content Editor of Government Executive Media Group.

“Without clean and well managed data, the promise of advanced analytics and big data simply can't be realized. In today's government, where cutting costs and increasing efficiency is a top priority, understanding and implementing data management best practices is essential,” said Micheli.   “I'm excited to talk with three incredible public servants--each of whom manages vast, complex federal data initiatives--about why data management and a strong data governance strategy, today more than ever, is critical to the success of every data-driven federal manager.”

The full day Summit event will be held in the Ronald Reagan Building & International Trade Center, 1300 Pennsylvania Ave. NW Washington, DC 20004.
