Gunnebo has won an order for biometric pre-security access gates for Korea Airport Corporation, consisting of a total of 14 lanes at Gimpo and Jeju international airports.

KAC operates 14 airports in South Korea. Gunnebo won the business in cooperation with Korean systems integrator BZ System.

The order is the latest step in Gunnebo’s rapid expansion into the worldwide airport market. So far, more than 100 airports in Europe, Africa and Asia have been equipped with Gunnebo gates where passengers scan their boarding passes for validation.

Earlier this year, airports in Malaysia, Oman, France and the United States started using Gunnebo gates with facial recognition cameras for passenger validation.

With biometric identification technology for passenger validation, the Korea project will be an important reference for Gunnebo in the implementation of this revolutionary new solution for passenger processing.

“The business for Korea Airport Corporation is another major milestone for our development in airport solutions in the Asia Pacific region, as this gives Gunnebo a strong reference to lean on for numerous upcoming projects,” says Robert Hermans, Senior Vice President Entrance Control.

“Gunnebo has developed a comprehensive and technologically advanced modular solution that is proven and tested, placing a very high benchmark for competitors.”
