Haldex wins a breakthrough order for hydraulic drive system of engine cooling fans on forklift trucks

Haldex wins a breakthrough order for hydraulic drive system of engine cooling fans on forklift trucks Haldex Barnes Hydraulics - a division in the Haldex group - has received a breakthrough order from one of the world's largest forklift truck manufacturers regarding a newly developed hydraulic drive system of cooling fans on engines. The business if of the order of magnitude of 250 MSEK (25 MUSD) over a 5-year period. Serial deliveries to start 2002. The hydraulic system developed by Haldex for propelling and control of engine cooling fans includes technology that makes it possible to control the fan speed continuously. Hereby the engine temperature can be optimized, which results in a reduction of environmentally harmful emissions. The new Haldex system, which replaces today's technology with belt drive or direct drive, is also quieter than such mechanical drives. Partly due to the hydraulic drive as such, and partly due to the fact that the system allows cooling on demand. The potential world market for this type of system is substantial, since most trucks, buses, construction vehicles and - as in this case - certain types of forklift trucks need fan systems to cool the engine. Haldex is an innovator in vehicle technology and supplies proprietary products for trucks, cars and industrial vehicles on a global basis. The Group is listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange and has annual sales exceeding 6 billion Swedish Krona with 4,250 employees.
