Haldex wins order for newly developed, quiet hydraulic system

Haldex wins order for newly developed, quiet hydraulic system Haldex Barnes AB, the Swedish unit in the Haldex Barnes Hydraulics division, has received a first order for a newly developed, quiet system for tailgate lifts on distribution trucks. The order value amounts to over USD 2 m. on a yearly basis and was received from a leading German tailgate lift manufacturer. Haldex has taken the initiative in the development of hydraulic systems with low noise level. The demand for reduced noise levels is growing stronger in several applications. Distribution trucks, now increasing sharply in living areas as a consequence of Internet commerce, is one such application. The system's lower noise level has been achieved by introducing Haldex newly developed hydraulic gear pumps with optimized tooth profiles, which reduce pressure pulsations up to 75%. The system also includes a DC motor, which has been optimized for the new pumps. The West European market for hydraulic systems for tailgate lifts is approximately USD 30 m. and growing. Haldex Barnes has a leading position on this market. This first order for the low noise system is expected to be followed by orders from other manufacturers of tailgate lifts. Haldex Barnes Hydraulics has yearly sales of around USD 120 m. and focuses on hydraulic systems for lift and steer applications on industrial vehicles and trucks. The division has a leading market position in several of its chosen application areas. The manufacturing takes place in 4 factories in the U.S., Germany and Sweden.
