2015 CARRERA RANGE HERALDS A SUMMER OF CYCLING

Carrera is the multi-award winning brand exclusive to Halfords.  Spanning Mtb, hybrid and road it is the brand many credit as ‘their first proper bike’ and has introduced riders to the joys of cycling, whatever their preferred surface; mud or tarmac.

A significant move will see all the new 2015 mtbs using the brand new 650b wheel size, with new geometry giving the rider a much more responsive ride, a necessity when tackling the hills and trails.

Leading the off-road charge is the Carrera Fury (£599), which has big shoes to fill.  The Fury has often been named as the finest hardtail at its price and 2014 will be no different with a 7005 alloy hardtail frame, Avid hydraulic brakes, Suntour air sprung front fork and a great gear spread thanks to the 2x10 SRAM X5 drive train make this bike a serious contendor.

Snapping at the heels of the Fury are a host of fantastic off road machines including the Kraken with hydraulic discs and Suntour fork for less than £450 and both the Vengeance and Vulcan available in both men’s and women’s specific frame geometry.

Keeping the ‘Roadies’ happy are three superb models; the Zelos (£299), the Virtuoso (£379) and the Vanquish (£499).  The Vanquish with its aero ‘blade’ carbon fork and compact 2x8 drive train will ensure that any rider wanting to see if they can keep up with Bradley is on the right bike.

Finally, for those wanting a bike ‘for a bit of everything’ the Carrera hybrid models are ideal for spinning to work, pootling down a tow path or just getting outside to enjoy turning the pedals in the countryside.  All the Carrera hybrids are built with the same strong but light 6061 Alloy tubing and frames are available in men’s and women’s specific geometry.  Starting at just £250 the Carrera Crossfire has quick release wheels for easy transport and storage, strong V-Brakes and a performance saddle and comfort grips to ensure a comfortable ride.
