Brazilian students to study at Harper Adams University

BRAZILIAN university students now have the opportunity to study at Harper Adams through a scholarship programme.

Science without Borders (Ciência sem Fronteiras) is a Brazilian Government scholarship programme managed by two Brazilian higher education agencies - CAPES and CNPq.

Harper Adams University in Shropshire has been selected as one of the UK participants in the scheme.

Students can study Agricultural Engineering at undergraduate level for a sandwich year, or PhD students can attend for either a sandwich year of full time three year programme across a range of agri-food or science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM)-related subjects.

The programme aims to send 101,000 Brazilian students to top overseas universities through the scheme, with the UK welcoming 10,000 of them over four years.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Peter Mills, said: “Brazil is an extremely important country for global agricultural products so this partnership will be beneficial to both countries.

“Students will be able to study at the soon-to-be completed Engineering Innovation Centre incorporating the National Centre for Precision Farming- funding for which was announced last year by David Cameron during his visit to Brazil.

“We look forward to welcoming the first cohort of students to Harper Adams, and the insight and knowledge that they will contribute to the wider university community.”
