(Las Vegas—June 24, 2014) –The Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) awarded its highest chapter honor—the Robert M. Shelton Award—to the Oregon Chapter during HFMA’s annual conference in Las Vegas on Monday. The award is given annually in recognition of five years of sustained excellence.

“The Oregon chapter has seen outstanding results from the implementation of its multi-year strategic plan,” HFMA Chair Kari S. Cornicelli said. “A focus on adding value to chapter membership has been successful—the chapter not only improved member satisfaction but also exceeded its membership goals.”

Cornicelli presented the award to Oregon Chapter past presidents Aaron Crane, Dustin Taylor,

Megan Underwood, Terrie Handy, and Diana Gernhart.

Since 2009, the Oregon Chapter has won 23 Helen M. Yerger Special Recognition Awards; five Silver Awards for Excellence in Education; three Gold, one Silver, and one Bronze Award for Membership Growth and Retention; three Gold Awards for Certification; and three Hottum Awards for Educational Performance Improvement. The Oregon Chapter has 525 members.

Winners of the Shelton Award demonstrate continuous improvement in all areas tracked by HFMA, including quality and variety in educational programs, growth in membership, and other areas. The winner is selected by a five-member committee appointed each year by the HFMA Chair.
