Known for its vibrant startup and technology scene, the Finnish capital will host #DTTT Global, the next pioneer event for digital travel marketing, on 29 and 30 November 2018. The organisers are expecting up to 400 leading travel destinations to participate in the event.

Digital technology has changed the role of destinations around the world. Helsinki has been recognised as a technical leader in innovative digital solutions. The city’s new initiatives in the digital environment have already attracted a lot of international attention.

Helsinki is one of the best examples in the world of how digital tools and local residents can be engaged to communicate about the destination. MyHelsinki.fi is a new digital platform that was launched last year whose contents are fully provided by locals. Functional digital services that truly meet visitor needs will become more and more relevant in the future,” says Laura Aalto, CEO of Helsinki Marketing.

The City of Helsinki together with the Digital Tourism Think Tank are proud to announce #DTTTGlobal 2018, which will take place in Helsinki on 29 and 30 November 2018. During this two day-conference, destinations from all over the world will gather to discuss and celebrate the future of tourism.

Nicholas Hall, CEO of the Digital Tourism Think Tank, is proud to bring #DTTT Global to Finland: “Finland really is on top of its game when it comes to tech and innovation, but with changing needs of the millennial traveller and growth of the Asian markets, it’s also proven to be a dark horse in tourism and is exemplary for everything the #DTTT stands for.”

#DTTTGlobal, the staging platform for tomorrow’s tourism

#DTTTGlobal, the flagship event of the Digital Tourism Think Tank, gathers marketers from all over the world, giving them a unique and exciting platform to share and learn from the innovations of other DMOs, while exploring upcoming trends and scoping out new business potential. This year, 400 leading destinations from all over the world are expected at #DTTT Global.

“#DTTTGlobal is a truly unique coming together of leaders and innovators. We’re so excited to have the global destination community here, in Helsinki,” Laura Aalto adds.

Blockchain, spaceships and robots

The programme will tackle tech, innovation, transformative travel, design thinking and blockchain. Big game changers from Australia’s Tourism Northern Territory to the Eindhoven in the Netherlands will be on stage to share their strategies and how they’re constantly innovating to stand out in destination marketing.

How to digitally target the Asian market will also be a key topic of the conference. With the Asian market growing significantly, staying relevant in this constantly evolving market is one of the biggest challenges DMOs are facing. This is where the Finnish industry will really show the way, having seen impressive growth in recent years as part of a major stopover strategy.

One of the highlights of this year’s event will be the Finnish start-up Space Nation, which will discuss how space travel puts our focus beyond the horizon to rethink the meaning of travel altogether.
