50 new Hemköp stores to open in Stockholm

The Annual General Meeting of the Vi Retailers Association has resolved that its individual retailers can sign a chain agreement with Hemköp. Under the agreement, which takes effect in January 2012, approximately 50 new Hemköp stores will open in Stockholm.
The agreement is part of the long-term development of the cooperation between the Vi Retailers Association and Axfood that was started two years ago.

Hemköp first to offer plastic bags made of renewable material

Hemköp will be the first retailer in Sweden to offer plastic bags made of renewable material. The bags are made of “green” polyethylene, in which the main raw material is sugarcane. Plastic bags made of green polyethylene result in 70%-75% less CO2 emissions than ordinary plastic bags. The new bags will be available at all Hemköp stores at the start of 2011.

Organic products support Save the Children

From 20-26 September, sales of Garant Ekologiska organic products will be supporting Save the Children. One krona per item sold at Hemköp will be donated to Save the Children’s education project in Ivory Coast.

Hemköp issues dismissal notices for ten employees at the support office

Hemköpskedjan AB has issued dismissal notices for ten salaried employees at its support office in Solna. These dismissals are a result of the action programme at Hemköp that was announced earlier.

Negotiations in accordance with the Swedish Codetermination Act (MBL) have been initiated with the trade union. The negotiations are expected to be completed within one week.

Hemköp revises staff scheduling in Stockholm stores

Hemköp has conducted a review of the staff scheduling in its stores in Stockholm. The review has been aimed at ensuring that staffing is greatest during times when customer numbers are largest in the stores. This has led to changes in work schedules.
