Doc Ford’s Newest Location at South Seas Island Resort Stays True to Roots, Bringing Tropical Flavors from the Caribbean Rim

Captiva Island, FL – January 18, 2013: To kick off the New Year, South Seas Island Resort announces their newest dining option, Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille. Already known as Sanibel’s and Fort Myers Beach’s favorite gathering place and sports bar, Doc Ford’s will feature their traditional menu, along with a refreshing new décor in the dining room to match the signature style and charm of South Seas Island Resort at Captiva Island, FL. The restaurant will debut at the resort in the summer of 2013, following a complete renovation, and will be open to the public.

Replacing the soon to be closed Holy Smoke Heavenly Barbecue restaurant outside the gates in Chadwick’s Circle, Doc Ford’s invites guests to explore the new look and feel of the restaurant while savoring some of their signature dishes, from their mouth-watering Martinique-jerked pork chop, to their Yucatan Shrimp, and, of course, their famous Mojitos.  “It’s going to be a lot of fun for the visitors to Captiva Island,” said Marty Harrity, co-developer of the Doc Ford’s restaurant group.   “We’re going to have a full docket of live entertainment and it’s really going to make for a great experience for the visitors,” he added.  Staying true to its roots, Doc Ford’s will be offering the freshest produce, proteins, and seafood with the same tropical island flair as their Sanibel Rabbit Road original location and the recently opened Fort Myers Beach location.

“We’re thrilled to extend to our guests the newest eatery, Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille, Captiva,” said Managing Director Bob Walter. “We share the same dedication as Doc Ford’s in providing an unforgettable experience, with impeccable, friendly service.”

Doc Ford’s is named after the well-loved fictional character of the same name, retired NSA agent and tropical adventurer Doc Ford. Doc Ford’s is slated to open in the summer of 2013. For more information, please visit www.docfordssanibel.com or www.southseas.com
