ISG Secures £4.5 Million Eye Hospital in Central London
ISG has commenced work on a £4.5 million project to create a state-of-the-art eye hospital in London’s renowned Marylebone medical district, for high-end ophthalmic specialist Optegra. The scheme involves the conversion of two period properties in Queen Anne Street into an advanced facility for the treatment of a comprehensive range of eye conditions.
Retaining the attractive Edwardian and Victorian façades of the two buildings, ISG will rationalise and unify space and levels across the two buildings, providing 13,200 sq ft of floor space across six storeys – creating purpose-built accommodation for Optegra’s very latest eye hospital.
Facilities at the hospital include a basement level theatre suite with a dedicated refractive laser unit for eye surgery. ISG will create a high-specification reception area on the ground floor, along with a series of consulting rooms, and at second floor level deliver two state-of-the-art operation theatres, complete with ceiling mounted precision microscopes. A patient recovery suite is housed on the third floor with, staff offices and welfare facilities on the building’s upper levels.
Paul Sharp, divisional director of ISG’s Engineering Services business, said: “Our impressive track record and highly-specialist technical skill set proved a compelling proposition to Optegra for its prestigious new London eye hospital. Operating extensively across the healthcare and research and development (R&D) sectors, ISG specialises in complex fit out projects where our expertise and detailed sector knowledge adds real value to the customer relationship.”
Previous ISG projects include a cutting-edge cell therapy centre of excellence on the 12th floor of Guy's Hospital in London for Cell Therapy Catapult, a new stem cell laboratory for King’s College London and a Large Vertebrate research facility at the world-renowned Natural History Museum.
