John Woods Nurseries launches buyer-specific digital catalogue

Report this content

John Woods Nurseries, the award-winning commercial grower and supplier of plants to retailers across the UK, has launched a digital catalogue to simplify product selection and ordering for its customers.

Accessible online via the John Woods Nurseries website, the catalogue enables customers to personalise their product preferences and repeat purchases, and suggests products that complement existing reservations and orders.

Each trade customer of John Woods Nurseries will have their online catalogue tailored to them. This means that they will be able to access information on their most frequent purchases quickly and easily without the distraction of non-relevant content. The digital catalogue will also save valuable space and reduce John Woods Nurseries environmental impact.

Commenting on the digital catalogue, John Lord, Managing Director of John Woods Nurseries, said, “Putting our catalogue online in a format tailored to the individual needs of every John Woods Nurseries customer will make life easier for all our trade buyers. Our entire product range can now be accessed from anywhere using one simple-to-use facility which personalises the product selection and ordering process.”

Free copies of the John Woods Nurseries digital catalogue will be available from the company’s stand, 65 and 74, at the HTA National Plant Show, taking place Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26 June 2013 at Stoneleigh Park, Coventry.

More information about the event is at www.nationalplantshow.co.uk.

JOHN WOODS NURSERIES

Backgrounder

John Lord is Managing Director at John Woods Nurseries, the award-winning commercial grower, which is fast becoming the UK’s plant supplier of choice.

With high standards of professionalism and an ongoing commitment to quality and innovation, John Woods Nurseries continually strives to supply the most reliable and best garden plants across its product groups. These include perennials, roses, ericaceous plants, climbers, trees and fruit.

A supplier of the prestigious Endless Summer®, Mattocks® roses and First Editions™ brands, John Woods Nurseries delivers best practice services to its customers. This helps to ensure the best possible experience for the end consumer.

This commitment to excellence is also borne out through the famous Waterers brand built on 175 years of heritage. Since 1829 skill, patience and persistence in breeding has improved the varieties for the gardener. Today the Waterers Collections from John Woods Nurseries offer a colourful and powerful range of beautiful azaleas, rhododendrons, camellias and skimmias.

Famous for its Mattocks roses, many new varieties have been launched at RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, including Rose of the Year 2011 Joie de Vivre and Rose of the Year 2012 Moment in Time. At this year’s event, John Woods Nurseries launched the Cherry Girl in the Rose Marquee.

Exhibiting at events such as RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show enables John Woods Nurseries to showcase its products and support customers who stock the company’s plants nationwide.

John Woods Nurseries embraces a policy of openness, fairness, honesty and enthusiasm. In working with garden centres, DIY sheds, landscape gardeners and nurseries, the teams bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to every customer.

Complementing excellent customer service is an innovative category management system. Teams of expert growers at John Woods Nurseries specialise in key areas of the business, ensuring the company’s ability to differentiate on form, shade and variety is unsurpassed.

John Woods Nurseries is always improving its systems and adding new glasshouses and polytunnels to its substantial 70 acre (20 hectares) site in Suffolk. The team work around the clock and systems are automated to ensure the highest quality product.

In keeping with its ethos of ‘new growth, strong roots’ the company’s  best practice apprenticeship scheme attracts new young people into horticulture every year, helping to lay the foundations for the future growth of John Woods Nurseries.

This commitment to the future of high quality horticulture chimes with John Lord’s personal journey. From an early age John developed a love of plants thanks to his grandmother Evelyn who taught him how to take cuttings. While studying for his Level 3 Diploma in Horticulture at Merrist Wood Agricultural College, John spent his sandwich year on placement at Notcutts Nurseries. He later became their first management trainee after leaving college.

John progressed through the business to become Managing Director of nursery division on 2006. In August 2007 he completed the buyout of Notcutts Nurseries with a colleague and John Woods Nurseries was incorporated.

In the years since, John Woods Nurseries, named after the original Georgian owner of the site, has won clutch of awards including:
