Kesko included again in the DJSI World and the DJSI Europe, the world's most prestigious sustainability indices

Kesko has again been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices the DJSI World and the DJSI Europe. Kesko received the industry best overall score in the Environmental Dimension. 

The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) are the most prestigious global sustainability indices. Kesko has previously been included in the indices between 2003 and 2014 and in 2017. 

Companies are selected for the DJSI based on an independent sustainability assessment conducted by RobecoSAM. The assessment analyses company activity in the areas of economic, social and environmental responsibility.  

In the 2018 assessment, Kesko’s overall score rose compared to the year before. Kesko received an excellent score in the Environmental Dimension, especially in the areas of Climate Strategy, Packaging, and Water Related Risks. In the Economic and Social Dimensions, Kesko’s scores rose in the areas of Supply Chain Management and Human Rights.  

Kesko is a world pioneer in corporate sustainability 

Kesko is listed on several major sustainability indices, such as the FTSE4Good Index, the CDP Climate A- List, and the STOXX Global ESG Leaders Index. Kesko is ranked 31st on the Global 100 list of the Most Sustainable Corporations in the World, making it the world's most sustainable trading sector company.  

Kesko is the first Finnish company to have set emission targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to reduce emissions from its facilities, transportation and supply chain. To achieve these ambitious emission reduction targets, Kesko will increase its use of renewable energy while also improving its energy efficiency.  

Kesko has long worked towards supply chain transparency and human rights. We use international assessment systems, such as amfori BSCI auditing, for supplier audits. Kesko has conducted a human rights assessment and published a human rights commitment, and promotes human rights in all its operations.
