Kesko’s sales in June
The sales of Kesko Group’s continuing operations in June 2018 totalled €912.6 million, and were at the previous year's level in comparable terms. The reported sales from continuing operations decreased by 4.2%, and were impacted by divestments. The number of wholesale selling days was one less than the year before.
"Kesko's sales were at the previous year’s level in comparable terms in June. In the second quarter the sales grew in all segments in comparable terms,” says Kesko's President and CEO Mikko Helander.
Sales in the grocery trade totalled €448.8 million in June, an increase of 0.5% in comparable terms. Sales were impacted by the number of wholesale selling days, which were one less than the year before. The reported sales for June decreased by 1.7%.
Sales in the building and technical trade totalled €383.1 million in June, and were at the previuous year’s level in comparable terms. Comparable sales in the building and technical trade excluding the speciality goods trade decreased by 1.2% in local currencies. Sales in Finland decreased by 0.9%, and sales elsewhere decreased by 1.5%. Sales in the speciality goods' leisure trade were at the previous year’s level, while sales in the machinery trade grew by 9.4% in comparable terms. The reported sales in the building and technical trade decreased by 7.0%, and were impacted by the divestment the furniture trade in the second quarter of 2017.
Sales in the car trade totalled €80.3 million in June, representing a decrease of 5.1%.

Change, % indicates the change when compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. The comparable change % has been calculated for the grocery trade by including those stores formerly belonging to Suomen Lähikauppa, which have belonged to the network in both years, in the sales. The comparable change % for the building and technical trade has been calculated in local currencies and excluding the impact of divestments made during 2017. On 16 February 2018, we announced we would be discontinuing our building and home improvement trade operations in Russia: these are reported as discontinued operations and are not included in the sales figures for continuing operations presented in this release.
In June 2018, the number of Kesko's wholesale selling days in Finland was 20, which is one less than the year before. April-June 2018 had one more selling day and January-June had an equal number of selling days compared to the corresponding period in 2017.
