The Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency ("Tukes") has granted a mining permit for Keliber Oy’s (the "Company") Syväjärvi mine area.

Tukes has granted a mining permit under the Mining Act (621/2011) for Keliber Oy’s Syväjärvi mine area. Based on the granted permit, a mine area of Syväjärvi and an auxiliary area (connection road) will be established in accordance with section 19 of the Mining Act. The granted permit is not yet legally valid. Before commencing the mining operations, the proceedings establishing a mining area, is also required.

The mining permit entitles the Company to exploit the mining minerals found in the mining area, the organic and inorganic surface materials, excess rock, and tailings (byproduct of mining activity) and other materials belonging to the bedrock and soil of the mining area, insofar as the use thereof is necessary for the purposes of mining operations in the mining area. Moreover, the mining permit entitles to perform exploration within the mining area.

"We are pleased with the decision made by Tukes. The Syväjärvi mining permit is one of the many permit applications which we have been handling with the various authorities in the pre-negotiation process. The received mining permit decision is a good example of the functionality of the co-operation of the authorities," says Pertti Lamberg, CEO of Keliber Oy.
