Launch of free software to manage knowledge and innovation

CIP Professional Services launches its IA Manager software today, as a free service to support research groups and technology-intensive companies in managing their intellectual assets. Demand for the software is driven by, among other factors, increasing requirements from research financiers to demonstrate societal and commercial value creation. At the same time, technology-intensive companies expect and demand higher returns on research and development investments to remain competitive.

Track records of research breakthroughs are not a guarantee that your innovations will be put into practice, and reach their full value potential, whether commercially or in the public sphere. Many of the world’s most research-intensive countries, including Sweden, risk lagging behind in international competitiveness, if they can’t improve their rate of utilization and commercialization of research results. Both research financiers and industry leaders agree – more efficient utilization and greater returns on investments are needed.

The IA Manager software facilitates identification, assessment and management of knowledge from research and development activities. Through this support, more effective business models, collaborations models and IP-strategies can be developed. The software is provided by CIP Professional Services - a consultancy firm specialized in innovation and intellectual property management, part of Chalmers Industriteknik. Already during the pilot phase companies, consultants and innovation advisors have shown interest in the software.

“We see a need for improved knowledge and innovation management in companies, universities and research institutes, as well as in collaborations across stakeholder groups. For years, we’ve used our proprietary developed software internally to develop value in customer projects. It is clear that more people and organizations now start to realize the value of their intellectual assets and the need to manage the assets more effectively”, says Jens Bördin, CEO at CIP Professional Services

“We are very pleased with the positive response IA Manager has received during the pilot phase. From over hundred completed projects for universities and companies in different industries, we have gathered experiences and knowledge, which we would like to share. Our hope is that IA Manager will help contribute to increased value from innovation for individuals, organizations and society as a whole”, says Anders Sundelin, VP Business Development at CIP Professional Services.
