On Sunday 22ndMarch 2015, Old Deer Park will host The Salomon CityTrail™ Richmond Mini Mile with over 1,000 local children taking part in the race supported by Whole Foods Market, Richmond.

The aim of the race is to help build an Olympic legacy in the Borough and encourage more children between the ages of five and seventeen to take up healthy living with sport as the driving force.

Richard Xerri, Founder and Director at Perseverance Events says: “The Mini-Mile race is 100% free and is the only mass-event in the Borough of Richmond for children without central government funding. We wanted to make sure that children could take part in a running event as well, after all why should the adults have all the fun!”

Children aged between five and seven years old will run a distance of 800 metres and parents are encouraged to run with their child if they feel necessary. Children of eight years and above will run the full distance of one mile.

Kevin Quinn, Director of Real Runners says, “Our organisation works with schools all over the Borough of Richmond educating children and parents about the importance of taking part in sport and how this can have a positive affect on a child’s life. A free event such as The Salomon CityTrail™ Richmond Mini Mile will enable children all over the Borough to take part and experience the joy of running in a local event.”

The Mini Mile event will take place after The Salomon CityTrail Richmond Half and 10km races have finished, allowing families to come along, support the participants on the day and then encourage their children to follow in the footsteps of the runners.

The Salomon CityTrail™ Richmond Mini Mile is such a fantastic local event for Whole Foods Market, Richmond to support. Being free for all children, means that there are on barriers to entry and we hope that lots of children from the Borough of Richmond take place. We’ll be there on the day cheering the runners of tomorrow on! says Polly Bennett, Marketing Team Leader at Whole Foods Market, Richmond.
