Leighmans.com aims for £1m revenues
Hunger for hi-tech gadgets is helping an online provider of promotional corporate gifts as it looks to smash the £1m annual turnover mark for the first time.
Leighmans.com, based in Bury, supplies businesses with items ranging from pens, mugs, paper, and diaries to badges and shirts.
Founder Darren Leigh said the business, which is marking its first decade of trading, is on track to achieve revenues of more than £1m in the year to next February, as he targets client gains and expands the firm’s range of products.
Gadgets including e-readers, memory sticks and iPad duo pens that can be used for writing on notebooks as well as flicking through iPad and iPhone pages, are proving big sellers, he said.
Leighmans sells iPhone cases, earphones and speakers for laptops.
The firm has signed an exclusive UK and Europe distribution deal with iPrint Corporate to sell its range of iPrint strips, which can be attached to gloves so wearers are able to use touch-screen products.
Darren said: “Over the last 18 months, we have been more innovative in our approach in offering more bespoke products for clients.
“With public sector spending being squeezed, and organisations cutting back on their marketing teams, people don’t have the time to be looking around for products.
“Our approach is to work with clients more closely, and offer them products relevant to what they want to do.”
The company, which has a database of around 100,000 products, has four staff, including an in-house designer. Clients include Deutsche Bank as well as Volkswagen, the Football Association and McDonald’s.
At least 50 per cent of its products are used by businesses as giveaways to their clients and for promotional purposes. The other 50 per cent are mainly used by businesses for in- house purposes.
Darren added: “Being able to celebrate a decade of success as an independent business is a significant achievement, so we’re thrilled.”
