Lemminkäinen to build business and office premises in Lappeenranta

LEMMINKÄINEN TO BUILD BUSINESS AND OFFICE PREMISES IN LAPPEENRANTA
Lemminkäinen will be using the project management model to build business and
office premises in downtown Lappeenranta. The new building at Kirkkokatu 9
marks the first step in the construction of Lappeenranta's City Block. The
client is Etelä-Karjalan Osuuspankki, a bank. The main users of the premises
will be Etelä-Karjalan Osuuspankki and Pohjola. Both parties have agreed not to
publish the cost of the project.
Work is scheduled to start in early 2013 and will last about two years. The
city plan still has to be approved before construction can begin.
The half burnt-out building currently occupying the site will be demolished and
replaced with a new property. According to preliminary plans, the new business
premises will cover 5,200 m2.
Kirkkokatu 9 is a very important project for Lemminkäinen's operations in the
Lappeenranta area. City Block is the next step in Lemminkäinen's city-centre
construction operations. Lemminkäinen has previously built several premises in
downtown Lappeenranta, including Kulmatalo, which won the title of best
building in Lappeenranta in 2010; and a residential building, Lappeenrannan
Rutinkulma on Valtakatu, which was completed in 2011. The so-called Autotalo
block is currently under construction.
