Broadband wholesaler leads the way with Next Generation Networks

Innovative broadband wholesaler murphx confirmed today that they have been accepted by BT to work on both their FTTP and Annex M trials. BT’s new FTTP technology, initially offering up to 40Mb speeds and up to 10Mb upstream potential, has the capability to deliver speeds of more than 100Mb and BT believe that by mid-2012 at least 25% of all homes and businesses will be using the technology. Once released, this will supplement murphx’s primary high speed new technology, Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC), reinforcing their position as the connectivity enabler of choice. BT’s Annex M project is the next generation of ADSL broadband services delivering connectivity via 21CN and murphx have been involved in these trials for some time. 21CN is the IP-based network programme that enables ISPs and their customers to embrace convergent applications and feed the growing demand for higher bandwidth to deliver interactive services. Director Carl Churchill stated: “BT are making a significant commitment to delivering faster broadband provision across the UK, and we are proud to be enhancing our wholesale connectivity services by integrating with BT on this ground breaking project. Our participation in these trials demonstrates the strength of our ongoing relationship with BT and our shared commitment to quality and innovation.” Annex M is due to be launched later this summer following successful results, with FTTP hot on the heels later in the year. Churchill added: “murphx remains totally committed to being fully involved in supplier trials, ensuring they remain at the cutting edge of technology and enabling our partners to take advantage of the latest developments in the channel ahead of the pack.” -ENDS- Word count: 271
