News Release
Highlands and Islands Press Ball and Media Awards

The premier event for the media in the Scottish Highlands and Islands has sold out in record time.

Within five days of going on sale, all 280 tickets for the Highlands and Islands Press Ball and Media Awards have been snapped up.

The event, to be held at the New Drumossie Hotel in Inverness on Friday, 7 February, 2014, is being organised for the third year in succession by Inverness-based Lucid PR, Events and Marketing. In February this year the Silver Jubilee ball was held, marking 25 years of it running in its current format.

It is the only event that brings together a dispersed media community scattered across an area the size of Wales. Journalists and PR managers, some based hundreds of miles apart, will be coming together from Shetland to Argyll and from Moray to the Western Isles. They will be joined by MP and MSPs, civic leaders and heads of local public bodies.

The ball’s main sponsor is Diageo which, along with Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Fujitsu, also supports the media awards.

John Ross, chairman of the Highlands and Islands Press Ball and Media Awards said: “While media professionals in the Highlands and Islands can be geographically distant from one another the communities they serve often share the same issues. Due to the size of the area it’s difficult for us to meet up with colleagues but once a year a growing number are making the effort.

“These are testing times for the industry so it is a welcome opportunity to bring people together and highlight our strengths.”
